Being a self-defense expert is a bit of a paradox. People expect experts to have lots of experience in what they teach; but, if one is any good at self-defense, they expertly avoid trouble. By many people’s definition of “expert,” I hope neither you or I ever become an “expert” in self-defense!
I do however consider myself a very experienced expert in explaining self-defense and teaching self-defense to people of various ages and backgrounds.
Read how I got started teaching self-defense and making self defense videos, if you wish.
Another funny thing about learning self-defense that it is impossible to guess exactly what we need to learn; because we can’t accurately predict what types of threats we may need to defend ourselves from in the future. So, I suggest people should learn a little bit about many self-defense topics. Next time you need to take action to protect yourself, will it be against a machine, human, or animal? If a human, will they be armed or unarmed? If they are armed, what type of weapon? Will it be in a situation where you can most easily protect yourself with words, a weapon, or your body? We just never know!
If you join my email list using the form below, I’ll send you a free “Defeat Bad Guys Lesson” about how kids and adults can prevent abduction. While it is not likely that a serial killer will try to abduct you some day, you never know!

Members of my email list receive free self-defense videos and articles and special offers for my home-study courses. The best thing being a member of my list accomplishes is that it causes you to think about self-defense on a regular basis. Bad guys can tell who is “prepared” and usually avoid selecting them for a victim.
Here’s some quick lessons for you right now:
1) There is much more to self-defense than hitting people. Attitude, awareness, and proper choices of words and body language can help keep you safe.
2) You don’t need to be an expert in self-defense to defend yourself. Anyone, of any age and fitness level can learn things that help them better protect themselves from all sorts of dangers.
I have a 2-DVD and workbook set for adults and seniors ready for a test-market now. That’s the cover design at left. The first 40 copies sold will be $20 off ($19.95). (Order Here)
When you finish the course in a timely fashion, you can send me your workbook (and hopefully a glowing testimonial for the final packaging) to receive a free “I Brought Out My Inner Bodyguard” T-shirt.
Soon, I’ll make a version for kids and parents. I’ll probably eventually make one for teens, although teens can study the adult/senior one as well.
I also give entertaining presentations about the Top 10 Things Everyone Should Know About Self-Defense. Info Here
I also write a newspaper column about self-defense. You can see many of my past columns in my blog. To find them, highlight “blog articles” in the menu above and drop down to the “self-defense” topic.
Here’s one I haven’t even posted on my blog yet–”Your Options During a Mass Shooting”
I am also interested in writing magazine and newsletter articles, specific to the common self-defense concerns of the publication’s readership. If you know any publications that might be interested, contact me at lcsd@zianet.com.
Here’s the trailer to “Bring Out Your Inner Bodyguard:”
If you haven’t joined my list yet, remember to enter your name and address above. You can unsubscribe at any time and I’ll never come through your screen and punish you for not reading each article or watching each video. But, when would you possibly decide that it is no longer important for you to know how to protect yourself?
